CBD FaqS & Common Questions

What Is cbd?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the 80+ cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, which happens to have a very similar genetic make to Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Although the two compounds provide identical medicinal healing qualities, CBD lacks psychoactive properties, or the high feeling which comes with smoking marijuana. Think of CBD as Mary Jane’s business professional cousin. CBD does not have any toxic or addictive qualities and yields little to no side effects. CBD does not require a prescription in the United States and eases symptoms related to swelling, joint pain, migraines, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, fibromyalgia, eating disorders, ALS, gastrointestinal disorders, insomnia, cancer and so much more. CBD is also safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, children and pets.

What is a cannabinoid?

Cannabinoids belong to a diverse class of chemical compounds which make up the cannabis plant. The most popularly known yet most misunderstood cannabinoid is THC – the compound responsible for psychoactive responses, otherwise referred to as “weed” or “pot”. CBD is a cannabinoid that has immense anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant qualities, in addition to being positively responsive in treating chronic disorders, without any psychoactive properties.

Cannabinoids are also produced within the brain and belong to our body’s Endocannabinoid System. Cannabinoids in the hemp plant mimic receptors in our brains that regulate pain perception, stress, weight, appetite, sleeping patterns and sexual activity. The striking similarities found between cannabinoids in the hemp plant and our bodies are what makes CBD treatments so successful, making the cannabis plant a breakthrough in modern medicine.

Is CBD legal in the USA?

The legality of CBD products depends on where it comes from, i.e. medical marijuana or industrial hemp, and whether or not it contains THC. Cannabidiol oil from medical marijuana, which is known for having THC concentrations of about 30% or higher, is only legal in states where medical marijuana laws have been passed. CBD oil from industrial hemp containing less than 0.3% THC is ruled as a dietary supplement according to federal law.

Our CBD comes from American grown industrial hemp, which is legal to import, consume and sell in all fifty states. CBD itself has been increasingly recognized as a legitimate medicine on a global scale since Charlotte Figi observed astounding results from CBD at the age of six, opening the eyes of millions to treating children with cannabis. For more information on the DEA’s ruling, click here. If you would like to further research CBD’s legal and medicinal legitimacy, we highly recommend Dr. Sanjay Gupta‘s review.

Our operations are permitted in accordance to section 7607 of the 2014 Agricultural Act (Farm Bill), the only current measure permitting legal hemp pilot programs.  We are one of the only US companies with true seed to shelf control over our product as permitted by the federal government and we stringently test and certify all our products at every stage of the process.

Will i get high if i use CBD?

No! Though CBD has many of the same medicinal benefits as THC, it lacks any psychoactive properties. This means you can take CBD without feeling stoned, dizzy, light-headed, or paranoid AND neither your short term memory nor your motor skills will be affected. CBD is also known to counteract the negative effects of THC, like paranoia and a decline in cognitive skills. Hemp not high!

What’s the difference between marijuana and hemp?

Though marijuana and hemp are both versions of the Cannabis Sativa plant, they have their own respective differences which are commonly misconceived.

Marijuana contains high concentrations of the cannabinoid THC, which is responsible for psychoactive effects, and is harvested for its potency and medicinal benefits. Both recreational and medical marijuana can contain an average of 30-40% THC. Using marijuana is only legal and regulated in states where recreational/medical laws have passed.

Hemp, however, has been used for thousands years as a key component in several industries, including but not limited to culinary, medical, textile, industrial, fuel, and recreation. Hemp is strategically bred to contain minuscule counts of THC and higher concentrations of CBD, making hemp CBD oil an amazing alternative for those who cannot access medical marijuana in their state. Unlike marijuana, hemp can be grown in relatively quickly in various climate conditions, making it sustainable and easier to harvest. Though hemp can only legally be grown in certain states, its products are legal to sell and consume without a prescription anywhere in the United States.

Will I Fail A Drug Test While Taking CBD?

Seed Science takes great pride in observing quality and legality every step of our process from seed to shelf. We work diligently under the 2014 Agricultural Farm Bill to ensure that our products meet specific legal guidelines, like the DEA’s recent ruling stating hemp oil programs are permitted only if said hemp extracts contain less than 0.3% THC. Our hemp extracts do not contain any THC and are third-party tested in a pharmaceutical lab to ensure accuracy.

  • Our Hemp contains no THC
  • 3rd Party Tested
  • 2014 Agricultural Farm Bill Compliant
CBD is legal in all 50 states

We do not sell anything that is illegal to buy, own, or consume. Seed Science does not hold responsibility for those who are penalized for using THC as none of our products contain dosages of THC. The sale and consumption of industrial hemp CBD are legal in all 50 United States. Certain cannabinoids are likely to show on a drug test if you take extremely high dosages of full spectrum CBD every day, but you would not test positively for THC (which is what the government and your employer are concerned with).

  • High doses of Full Spectrum CBD may show on drug tests
  • Will not test positive for THC
  • Hemp CBD is legal in all 50 United State

what does "full spectrum" or "phytocannabinoid-rich" mean?

Some companies will single out CBD as it is one of the most prevalent cannabinoids in research, but we think you deserve more than that. Our full spectrum hemp extracts contain CBD, CBL, CBG, CBN, CBC, and CBDa, and a blend of over 40 terpenes. This beautiful combination is what makes our product so unique and allows its treatment to have such a high success rate.

Can I Use CBD While Pregnant Or Breastfeeding

Yes.  CBD is all natural, non-addictive and non-toxic, making it the perfect remedy for pain, soreness, inflammation and irritable stomachs while pregnant or breastfeeding. It is never recommended to smoke anything while pregnant, but eating or drinking our cannabidiol products is perfectly safe for you and your newborn(s).

Can I give cbd to my children?

Yes. CBD is safe for men, women and children alike. In fact, CBD really became known to the public when a six year old girl named Charlotte started using medical grade CBD oil to treat her Dravet syndrome. Since Charlotte’s case went viral, news outlets like CNN and National Geographic released testimonies of parents around the US who have treated their children with cannabis, resulting in an incline in medical cannabis studies. CBD is extremely responsive when treating those with autism, epilepsy, ADD/ADHD, insomnia and muscular disorders. As always, please consult your doctor about dosages relevant to your child’s needs.

Can I Give CBD To My Pets?

Yes – since CBD is 100% natural and enriched with vitamins, it is actually great for your pets. With CBD, less is usually more; start with small dosages. Put about 2-3 drops in their food and observe them for a week. After a week, increase or decrease their dosage based on their attitude/physical needs. Pets are like humans whom are very unique when it comes to healing processes. As always, talk to your vet if you are concerned.
